Under 8's secure first win of the season in local derby!

Post date: Apr 17, 2016 8:29:22 AM

The Under 8/4’s had desire in their eyes for their first win of the season. Coming up against a determined Earlwood side to prove the Titans otherwise, it was always going to be a difficult day at the office considering we were without two of our stars in Zachary (Holidays) and Alexia (Sick).

Early in the first half we went down 1 – 0 from a well-constructed Earlwood goal. You could see the Titans building momentum and many chances were created by our newly found superstar in Ben Coxhill. Ben was a maestro in Midfield who was always near the action of play giving the opposition many headaches with his dribbling and passing skills. The introduction of our new recruit Sienna Smith in midfield had an immediate impact. Sienna only had the single session with the team during the week and it looked like she had been training for years and fit in perfectly. Sienna’s introduction and build up play brought the equaliser before half time bringing the score line to 1 – 1. Ben Margaris had big shoes to fill today in midfield as we were missing the always reliable Alexia Madouris. Ben stepped up and showed the vocal crowd that he could do any job that was presented to him.

Denny Ledru put his hand up for the Goalkeeping duties and pulled off a number of great saves worthy of being showcased on TV. Our General in defence William Bishop has all the qualities a Captain possesses. Will lead his team from the back, kept his troops well organised and was a constant deterrent to the Earlwood attack keeping them at bay at every opportunity.

We started off the second half in brilliant form. Marcel and Jessey were forming their plan on how to dismantle the Earlwood defence. Their tireless efforts and unselfishness enabled them to get the job done up front. Our two dynamo defenders in Oliver Duggin and Dion Margaris supported the team well. With Oliver’s powerful left foot setting up chances and Dion’s relentless efforts to ensure Earlwood do not score were instrumental to the team’s success.

The final score ended up being 4 – 2 and Marcel and Jessey scored the 4 goals between them and a well-deserved hatrick to Marcel.

Next week, the 8/4’s will be looking at building on their momentum against Balmain it what has the making of a spectacular match!

Well done 8/4’s and Go the Titans!
