Twelve young Cooks River Titans players had the amazing opportunity of representing their Club and walking out as mascots to the A-League match yesterday between Western Sydney Wanderers and Newcastle Jets before just under 8,000 spectators at ANZ Stadium in Homebush.
Players and parents were asked to turn up to the ground an hour early to rehearse how it would all take place and got a chance to venture through the inner sanctums of ANZ Stadium.
After several quick rehearsals, the young Titans were ready. They marched down to one of the change rooms to put on a Wanderers t-shirt before making their way to the tunnel to wait for the players of both teams to come out.
Despite the drizzling rain, the Titans were bursting with excitement as the A-League players came up beside them and held the hand of a player each. The music began and the A-League players walked out with a Cooks River Titans player each onto the middle of the ground on display for the thousands of spectators in attendance and tens of thousands watching on Foxtel. It all worked like clockwork and the Titans players marched back to the tunnel after the formalities.
They then were ushered back to their parents in the grand stand to watch some of the first half before again going down to the tunnel to participate in a half time mini match on the field. Unfortunately, due to the conditions, the ground staff didn’t want any games on the field so the players simply marched around the perimeter of the field in front of thousands of fans.
The Club would like to thank all players for representing the club with pride in front of thousands of spectators live and hundreds of thousands of viewers at home.
The Club would also like to thank Western Sydney Wanderers FC and the CDSFA for arranging this memorable experience for the young Titans.
