The Cooks River Titans preparations for the 2016 season are well underway, with
competition games set to kick-off in just 26 days.
In what was a hot Sunday at Tempe High School teams from the under 6’s to All
Age Men, competed in their first round of highly competitive friendly fixtures
against Hurstville City Minotaurs and Sydney CBD. With minimal or no training this year, the respective teams combined together,
albeit some without a full squad to put in strong performances across all
grades, in what was a good first hit out for the club.
In what is shaping up to be a bumper second year for the club, President Nick
Kambounias believes that the Titans can shake up the CDSFA competition in 2016 “Our
preparations for our second season are well under way. We have noticed an
increase in our junior registrations, which is great and shows we are trying to
do something right for the kids. Juniors are our main focus and therefore our
top priority. One example of this is that this year we are paying an
experienced technical director to help coach the kids but more so help coach
the coaches. We want the kids to develop as players but more importantly to
learn about team camaraderie, teamwork, learning how to be a good sport,
respect for others and most importantly have fun. The Minotaurs and Sydney CBD
provided a stern test for our Titans on Sunday, however based on our
performances I can see us being a competitive force in our respective divisions
this season.”
With hard work and dedication expect the Titans to leave a mark in the
CDFSA this year.
More trials have been scheduled between now and the start of
the season, so keep an eye out on the club website.
