Around 300 people including around 150 junior players converged on
Gough Whitlam Park in Earlwood yesterday Saturday 31st August, 2019, as the
Cooks River Titans held their End of Season Junior Presentation Day. The
committee was worried in the days leading up to the event as the forecast was for rain all week including Saturday. On Friday it was decided that the event would go ahead and thankfully, apart from a brief few minutes of drizzle, the wet weather held off. The crowd began gathering from as
early as 9.30am to enjoy the official end of the football (soccer)
season where players are rewarded for their efforts all year in playing
the game they love by receiving a trophy. Club
Secretary Peter Solomakos was the MC for the day and welcomed all players and their families to the event as well as outlining how the day would run. President Nick Kambounias, on behalf of his hard working committee,
thanked the sponsors, coaches and managers, volunteers and the parents
and players in general for the successful season and making the Club
what it is today. He made mention that the Club has grown year on year since it's inception with this years numbers eclipsing 410 players. After waiting patiently to receive their trophy, the
kids (as well as their parents) lined up for a free BBQ whereby all
players, parents and supporters were treated to scrumptious sausages or
souvlakis as well as drinks of their choice. See you back in 2020 :) |
